The South Korean men’s soccer team returned home early Monday (KST) following an early exit from the FIFA World Cup in Brazil with a winless record, and some angry fans showed up to throw Korean yeot candies at them.

Korean phrase “eat yeot” has a vulgar meaning, and one fan identified as 41-year-old Cho actually yelled it out as he threw them.

“Their decision to not take the best players was as same as telling people who support them to ‘eat yeot,’ so I thought it was only fair that yeots were returned to them,” he explained.

“Am I supposed to eat these,” said Son Heung-min, as he sadly looked at all those yeots on the ground.

South Korea, which had set out to reach the knockout phase in South America, finished last among four nations in Group H with one draw and two losses. It opened the tournament with a 1-1 draw with Russia, but lost to Algeria 4-2 and then to Belgium 1-0.

This was South Korea’s first winless World Cup since the 1998 tournament in France.
