‘Descendants of the Sun’ actress draws big fan turnout in Beijing

SEOUL, (Yonhap) — About 1,000 Chinese fans gathered at an event in Beijing to get a signature from Korean actress Kim Ji-won who rose to stardom for “Descendants of the Sun,” her agency said Thursday.

Kim had fun during the fan event organized by a fashion brand for which she works as a model on Saturday, delivering her lines from the mega-hit South Korean TV series and posing for photos with the fans, King Kong Entertainment said.

“I heard some of you came from very far away, which deeply impressed me. I hope today will remain a happy memory for you.”

“Descendants of the Sun” enjoyed a sensational run from Feb. 24 to April 14, as it was aired simultaneously on South Korean terrestrial television network KBS 2TV and Chinese broadcasting and video sharing platform iQiyi.

In the drama, Kim played Army doctor Yun Myeong-ju, a secondary character who develops a romance with the main character Yoo Si-jin’s right-hand man, Seo Dae-young.
