SEOUL, July 11 (Yonhap) — K-pop stars BTS retained their presence on the key Billboard chart of the top 200 albums this week, further extending their winning streak on the key music chart.

The latest BTS album, “Love Yourself: Tear,” ranked 47th on the Billboard 200 chart as of Wednesday, the seventh week in a row it has appeared on the chart since May 27.

It was a further extension of BTS’ record as the first K-pop act to have its album and single simultaneously ranked by the two key Billboard charts — the Hot 100 and the Billboard 200.

“Love Yourself: Tear” and its main track “Fake Love” made it to the charts for the sixth consecutive week last week before the single dropped off the 100 hottest songs this week. The single peaked at 10th place.

For the first half of 2018, the famous septet also set a record of selling the most nphysical albums in the United States as a foreign musical act.

According to Nielson Music, “Love Yourself: Tear” ranked ninth in the Top 10 Physical Albums sold by the end of June, the Forbes magazine said.

Having sold 132,000 copies there, the album ranked as the biggest Korean one in the U.S., as well as the best-selling foreign-language album, it said.

“The BTS album is the latest in a long line of record-breaking releases from the seven-member act, which has surpassed geographic, linguistic and cultural boundaries to become the most popular boy band in 2018,” the magazine said.

“There are a variety of factors that have led to the group’s success, most notably their musicality and teamwork, but the fervor of their dedicated ARMY is largely what has helped propel the physical album sales and BTS’ immense impact on social media, which has been a major factor of the group’s increased presence stateside,” it said.

The Korean band is also scheduled to go on a global arena tour by kicking off local concerts at Jamsil Olympic Stadium in southern Seoul on Aug. 25-26.
